


And heading into Black Friday, the cyber risk assessment company BitSight estimated in a report this morning that about 60 percent of the retail sector is at a “heightened risk” of ransomware attacks because of poor cybersecurity practices, including slow patching of vulnerabilities. Sophos Labs estimates that retail was the most-hit sector in 2020, tied with education, with 44 percent of organizations struck.
